미국을 대표하는 사업가이자 투자자다.

어린 시절부터 돈을 벌고 모으는데 관심이 많고, 소질이 있었다고 한다. 경제학을 공부했고 투자회사, 투자조합을 거쳐 1965년 방직회사였던 버크셔 해서웨이의 경영권을 인수한다. 워런버핏은 버크셔 해서웨이를 여러 기업의 지주회사이자 투자회사로 변신시켰다. 고향인 미국 네브래스카주 오마하를 떠나지 않고 계속 활동을 이어가고 있어 '오마하의 현인'이라는 별명을 가지고 있다. 세계적인 투자자 중의 한사람으로, 20세기 미국을 대표하는 투자자로 손꼽힌다. 많은 투자자들이 꾸준히 그의 저서, 인터뷰 등에서 영감을 얻고 있다.
